Community need

Nationally, we provide more than $1,000,000 each month in assistance for special children. Unfortunately, there are many more thousands of children who need our help.

Did you know that every 18 hours a child is born with cerebral palsy? Variety currently serves Australian children with over 74 different conditions, this number will continue to grow.

Similarly, our work with indigenous children has never been more urgent – child mortality rates amongst indigenous kids are three times higher than their non-aboriginal schoolmates.

There are so many more kids out there that we urgently need to help.

Variety helps

Technology has provided miracles for hearing, sight and speech impaired children – but technology comes at a price – and often this is more than the average family or organisation can possibly afford.

Government funding cannot provide everything that is needed - even to hospitals - so our role is crucial getting urgently needed equipment which saves and transforms lives of Australia’s children.

Variety provides funds to Australia’s Children’s Hospitals and neo-natal wards, providing critical equipment such as humidi-cribs, ventilators and computer software.

Over 45,000 children and their families are directly assisted by Variety each year, through our appeals programs, our Children’s Christmas parties and variety@work. Thousands more travel on Sunshine Coaches every day and tens of thousands are treated in hospitals supported by Variety.

Variety places three Sunshine Coaches on the road per month nationally but receives requests for three times this number. Variety, with your help, can do so much more...

Regional and disadvantaged schools rely on Variety to provide computers and other necessary learning and play equipment.

Variety receives thousands of requests each year for vocal output devices, cochlear implants, myo-electric limbs and other technologies. We are unable to reach many children who are waiting for the chance to find a voice and communicate.

Everyone can help Variety help children

Our roots are in the entertainment industry but our core is in the community. People from all walks of life, throughout the country, can contribute and experience the joy of helping a child who is sick, disadvantaged or has special needs.
