The Variety Scholarship Program is a part of the Future Kids Program. Developed in 2006, its aim is to assist children who have already demonstrated success and commitment in sport, arts, drama, music or academia, and are at the stage where they cannot advance without external assistance. The scholarships are to provide help over the period of one year (to a maximum of three years), depending on yearly appraisals, and are NOT singular event focused.

The scholarship money can include tuition fees, equipment, travel and accommodation.

To be eligible, the child must fit all four points below:

1. under 18
2. economically disadvantaged
3. an Australian citizen or with permanent Australian residency
4. live in NSW or ACT
