Chloe
Variety Freedom Program
Four-year-old Chloe has found her own wheels thanks to Variety.
Chloe lives with epilepsy and Rett Syndrome, causing seizures, poor muscle tone and Apraxia. The Apraxia affects Chloe’s body movements, causing absent speech, difficulty walking, diminished eye contact and limited functional use of her hands.
“Chloe is just the most gorgeous girl and we really enjoy spending time outdoors as a family,” explains Tracy.
“We wanted Chloe to be able to experience the feeling of riding a bike, just like other kids her age, but it was impossible for her to use a conventional bicycle because of her balance and coordination problems,” she said.
Variety was delighted to help make the family’s wish come true, presenting Chloe with her very own modified tricycle.
Including a bucket seat, harness straps for her upper body, supports to hold her feet on the pedals and handle bar for manual steering, the trike gives Chloe hours of fun while also benefiting her general fitness, muscle tone, balance and motor development.
Best of all, it provides an outlet for Chloe to interact in her local community and eventually even ride alongside her little sister.
“As a parent you take such joy from watching your child ride their first bicycle, and most parents take that for granted… From the bottom of our hearts we thank Variety for helping make this dream come true,” said Tracy and Byron.
