2013 'To-the-Top' Variety 4WD Explorer

 

For those who crave an adventure with the safety of an experienced and committed crew, in the comfort of a 4WD, the 2013 “To the Top” Variety 4WD Explorer is a must do getaway for you. 

Cape York, one of Australia’s remotest areas, encompasses a myriad of attractions amongst the finest the Australian continent has to offer; including magnificent national parks, untouched beaches and of course - truly sensational 4WD tracks.

This classic 4WD-ing journey will see you travel along the Old Telegraph Track, which follows the original telegraph line through to the Peninsula and was once the only way to reach the Cape. You will experience the breathtaking beauty of the Bloomfield Waterfalls, stand on the tip of Australia at our country’s northernmost point and embrace the quaint seaside locale of Cooktown with the Cooktown Discovery Festival in full swing.

Join us as we escape from the everyday, revel in the beauty and enjoy the wide open spaces that make Cape York the experience of a lifetime.

What is the Variety 4WD Explorer?

The 4WD Explorer is a 10 day adventure taking 4WD vehicles and their owners off the bitumen and on to challenging yet fun dirt roads and tracks.

The emphasis is on tackling off the beaten tracks, whilst enjoying remarkable scenery, fabulous food and of course plenty of fun. The event is ideally suited to anyone with an adventurous spirit who takes pleasure in the great outdoors, and who is dedicated to improving the quality of life of the special children of Queensland.

The Explorer caters for 4WD enthusiasts of all abilities with plenty of experienced drivers on the course willing to help out if the need arises. If you are looking for a holiday with all the excitement of serious 4WD driving, with a group of fun loving like-minded people and would like to help the special children of Queensland, then this is the trip for you.

Variety Queensland is committed to providing children in need with opportunities to increase their quality of life. Events such as the Variety 4WD Explorer are staged to raise funds to meet the ever growing needs of families, schools and communities who rely on our assistance.

Variety Queensland has three core programs— Freedom, Future Kids and Caring for Kids—and it’s through these programs that we deliver a unique range of goods and services to support the specific needs of individual children, across a diverse spectrum of physical, emotional and financial needs.

Variety Queensland has created a fabulous 4WD adventure and one that will be etched in your memory for years to come.

Participants in the 2013 ‘To the Top’ Variety 4WD Explorer pay an entrant fee of $550 and each car is required to raise a donation of at least $5,000 (tax deductible) prior to the event. An additional provisions levy, payable per person, covering meals, accommodation and special events will be set at a later date. This provisions levy is usually between $1500-$2000 each.

2012 Events...

With no full length 4WD planned for 2012, we’ve scheduled a couple of weekend events that you can participate in to get you geared up for the 2013 event!!

Reunion Weekend – 14th – 16th June, 2012

Meeting in Hervey Bay on Friday 14th June for the start of our reunion weekend, we’ll enjoy a scrumptious dinner at the Pier Restaurant and comfortable accommodation at the Urangan Motor Inn.

We’ll catch the barge first thing on Saturday morning over to the glorious Fraser Island, and spend the next day and a half exploring the amazing World Heritage Listed location.

Visiting the Champagne Pools, the Maheno wreck, Eli Creek and Lake Mackenzie, you’ll experience a large slice of the wonder that is Fraser Island.

Driver Training Weekend – 6th & 7th October, 2012 

They’ve been successful in the past, and we’ve got another Driver Training weekend scheduled for anyone who wants to hone their four wheel driving skills prior to the 2013 Cape York Explorer.

Held at Landcruiser Mountain Park, the weekend will see participants depart with a certificate in the Government accredited course – to Drive and Recover a 4WD vehicle.
