Variety Queensland assisted in purchasing a $55,000 Sunshine Coach for Autism Queensland.

The bus has been a welcomed addition to Autism Queensland’s Respite and Accommodation Service.  This program transports children with Autism to school and accommodation houses on a weekly basis.

The Respite service currently supports in excess of 40 families in the greater Brisbane region, travelling up to 40,000kms a year.  It provides much needed respite for families, giving them a chance to enjoy leisure time with friends and family without the stress of challenging behaviour and complex special needs.

“It is of great importance that these families experience this encouraging break to revitalize their spirits and regain energy, and ultimately ensure the child is appreciated and loved on their return.   That’s why it was essential that a reliable van was operational.  Thanks to Variety Queensland, this vital support service can now continue” said Autism Queensland Manager of Fundraising Ms Paula Davidson.
