What is the V2 Motorcycle Run?
The Variety V2 Motorcycle Run is the latest in a portfolio of motoring events that includes the renowned Variety Bash and 4WD Challenge. It is an ‘up market’ event designed to attract motorbike enthusiasts who would enjoy firing up their bikes for a four day luxury cruise requiring no organisation on their part. The emphasis is on good roads, fabulous scenery, great food and wine and of course, as with all Variety events, fun and entertainment.
Over the past four years the event has raised almost $900k net for children in need. V2 Participant Alister Haigh believes that you don't need to go to the USA to find great scenery and long open roads. He believes, "the ride is a terrific way to celebrate the extraordinary fundraising efforts from a group of passionate South Australian bike riders who really dig deep for our sick kids. The V2 Motorcycle Run lives up to the Variety mantra for sustainability in fundraising….Variety certainly puts the FUN into FUNdraising

2011 Event
From the banks of the beautiful Torrens on a glorious spring morning to the magnificent Darling and Murray Rivers in NSW and Victoria, V2 entrants discarded their wet weather gear and reveled in balmy days, riding on the 2011 V2 Motorcycle Run that departed Adelaide on 13 October.
The 1,400km ride through the Riverland to Mildura then down to Swan Hill and back along the banks of the Darling River was spectacular. Other highlights of the four day trip included a Mississippi Showboat theme night, an abridged performance of Swan Lake and a very interesting chat from the iconic Stefano de Pieri in Mildura.
With crayfish, oysters and other gourmet meals and treats complimented with stunning di Giorgio Wines, courtesy of our great supporter Frank di Giorgio, it was certainly a gastronomic trek as well as an outstanding ride raising $135,000 net for children in need in SA.
At the final night dinner at Stefano's Restaurant event Chairman Alister Haigh was thanked for his Chairmanship and commitment over the past two years and Peter Curtis was announced as the incoming Chair for the 2012 event.
Sponsor's Message – Adelaide Brighton Cement
To be given the opportunity to witness the joy that Variety brings to South Australian children’s lives is truly overwhelming. Having sponsored the V2 Motorcycle Run on a platinum level for four consecutive years, we have been privileged with this opportunity and hence the decision to continue with this sponsorship was an easy one for us.
In December last year we were delighted to be given the opportunity of naming rights on a Variety Sunshine Coach and were immensely proud to present this vehicle, that will make a huge difference to the lives of children at Westport Primary School who live with various disadvantages.
Seeing first hand the difference we can make, encourages us to recommend to any other companies considering sponsorship, that they choose Variety, the children's charity. We believe they are second to none.
