The Variety Freedom Program provides funding for mobility equipment such as wheelchairs, leg splints, standing frames, tricycles, vehicle conversions, wheelchair lifters, Liberty Swings and Sunshine Coaches so that children can get out and about. Liberty Swings are donated to communities so children in wheelchairs or with various physical impairments can feel the joy of swinging— a simple pleasure that other children can often take for granted. 

Variety, the children's charity SA is dedicated to transforming the lives of children in need in South Australia. We help kids from birth up to 18 years of age that may be sick, disadvantaged or have special needs to live, laugh and learn. We want to make the world a better place for all these children. Australia might be the lucky country but if you are a child in a wheelchair then life can be pretty tough. Did you know that families can wait for up to two years to receive a government funded wheelchair?

Imagine - for the child waiting for the wheelchair, this would feel like a lifetime. Variety helps hundreds of children each year gain mobility and thereby, their freedom, independence and the chance to join in with other kids in the community. Variety provides funding for wheelchairs and other mobility equipment. Wheelchairs cost from $1000 for a standard chair and up to $20,000 for a fully motorised wheelchair. Seating systems are individually designed to cater for the condition of each child, ensuring there is room for them to grow and that their posture and health is protected.

In 2010 Variety the children's charity SA granted 87 appeals to organisations and individuals through the Freedom Program to the value of $742,588.
