Two popular DVDs have been produced by Variety Tasmania to assist in children's speech development using simple sign lanuage in popular Australian songs and rhymes. 

The Makaton Vocabulary Language Program is a signing language specifically designed to help people who may have some difficulties communicating. Signs and symbols are matched to a special selection of words which we use every day. When they are combined with speech it helps people to understand speech more easily, express their own ideas, and improve their communications skills.
