Rookies spend day out in preparation for 2012 Variety Bash.
On Sunday May 27, Variety held their ‘Rookies Day Out’ – to welcome new Variety Bash entrants into the Variety community and meet with officials and other entrants in preparation for the main event in August.
Beginning in Sunshine at 8.30am, 70 Variety Bash entrants took their vehicles for a test drive and enjoying breakfast and lunch en-route to Creswick. They passed through Toolern Vale and off-road through Lerderderg State Park before heading towards Gordon, Mt Rowan and onto Creswick.
Variety Bash Event and Development Manager Julie Baxter commented, “Variety Bash Rookies Day Out is a chance for new entrants to get to know other entrants and a bit more about the event before we set off in August. It is also good to hear from the officials about the safety, back up and support available to them, before and on the event”.
Due to strict safety regulations and procedures the Rookies Day Out also gives Variety Bash entrants an opportunity to speak with mechanics about the road safety of their car and discuss any issues or adjustments that may need to be made prior to the Variety Bash official start.
Finishing at the Farmers Arms Hotel in Creswick at approximately 2:30pm, Variety would like to thank all those involved in making the Rookies Day Out possible, from officials, long time entrants and Variety staff who are giving up part of their weekend to ensure our new entrants are welcomed into the Variety family and know what to expect in August.
