Variety WA announces record year at AGM

The 2011 Variety WA Annual General Meeting was held on Tuesday 29 November at the Perth Concert Hall.

Presenting our 2011 Annual Report, Variety WA was proud to announce it had raised $3.57 million dollars in net funds for the 2010/2011 financial year, a 14.7% increase from the previous year.

We continued to break records with a total of 329 grants being presented to the value of $3.1 million net. This touched the lives of more than 23,399 Western Australian children who are sick, disadvantaged or have special needs – an average of 449 children per week!

Variety WA’s CEO, Michael Pailthorpe, attributes this success to consolidating Variety’s core event-based fundraising but also concentrating on diversifying revenue by building on non-event income.

In addition, Greg Anderson, Geoff Kemp, Alan Linney and Terry Shaw, were awarded with life membership.

Retiring Chief Barker Mark Werrett and board member Ennio Tavani were acknowleged for their contribution, and election results were announced with Craig Gemmill, Wayne Carroll, Brett Heatley, Phil McBurney, Graeme Bylund and Rod O'Dea elected to the Board.  We thank past Board Members Debra Tarabini and Rhonda Craig for their outstanding service over several years.

Following a brief gathering of the 2011/2012 Board of Management, we are delighted to announce the following office bearers were appointed:

Chief Barker: John Mancini
Vice Chief Barker: Evan Briers
Treasurer: James Komninos

On behalf of our new Chief Barker, the Board and staff of Variety WA, we thank all our members, donors, volunteers and sponsors for their generous support in making these results possible.
