Historic partnership nets $1 million for WA kids in need

Variety WA has received the single largest philanthropic gift in its history with a $1 million contribution from Desmar Properties.

In a groundbreaking partnership, Desmar Properties generously championed the construction of an office and warehouse commercial complex in Bibra Lake which was sold with all net profit to Variety WA.

Desmar Managing Director Mark Taddei said he was proud to support Variety.

“My wife Deseree and I wanted to give something back to the community – by giving 100% of net profits from the development of one of our buildings, we felt we could make a significant contribution to Variety,” Mark said.

Land was generously provided on flexible terms by LandCorp, with Desmar’s suppliers and tradespeople offering their support through the donation or discount of materials and labour.

New owner, Masoud Abshar of Magellan Power said the Bibra Lake complex was the perfect property, at the perfect time for his company.

“It’s a fantastic building, and an even better bonus to know that all net profits from our purchase have gone straight to Variety and the kids,” Masoud said.

Variety WA Chief Executive Officer, Michael Pailthorpe is thrilled with the result and hopes more WA businesses follow in the footsteps of Desmar Properties.

“Mark and his wife Deseree Taddei are a wonderful example of the philanthropic movement growing within Western Australia and we are indebted to Desmar Holdings, LandCorp and the many suppliers and tradies who have made this project possible. $1 million is a huge contribution that will change the lives of thousands of WA kids in need.”
