Variety WA Flood Appeal
We are pleased to announce the Variety WA flood appeal has so far raised more than $80,000 for sick, disadvantaged and special needs children and their families affected by the devastating floods in Queensland, Victoria, Carnarvon and Northern NSW.
Western Australians again showed their generosity and compassion, donating more than $14,000 towards the appeal at our annual Variety Australia Day tin shake. A big thank you to the 40 selfless volunteers who happily gave up their public holiday to collect for our cause.
Variety WA will work with our counterparts and local organisations and authorities in QLD, VIC, WA and NSW to determine the best way to deliver practical and timely help where it is needed most.
These needs will be responded to on a case by case basis, as per the standard Variety grants process, and may include replacing lost wheelchairs, mobility equipment, communication devices and specialist computer packages for children with physical or intellectual disability, gifting toys and sporting equipment for local children, restocking regional school libraries or putting Variety Sunshine Coaches on the road in flood affected areas - we will keep all donors informed with regular updates as to the exact support provided.
Our heartfelt thoughts are with all of those personally touched by this disaster, especially members of our Variety family in Queensland and Carnarvon.
If you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact the Variety WA office on 9355 3655.
Thank you for your support
