Matt_MoranMatt Moran

Matt Moran is the well-known Australian chef and restaurateur of a number of successful restaurants including ARIA Sydney, ARIA Brisbane, CHISWICK and the newly open Riverbar & Kitchen. In addition he is the co-owner of event
companies ARIA Catering and ARIA Catering at Sydney Opera House.

While Matt’s main focus remains his restaurants, his appearances on TV shows such as Chopping Block, Masterchef, Junior Masterchef and My Restaurant Rules have also helped to raise his profile. His passion and knowledge will also been seen later this year on his new show From Paddock to Plate.

Regardless of the outlet, Matt’s driving force remains seasonality and a passion for producing the best contemporary food possible, with a true sense of professionalism and hospitality.

During his 40 year career, Michael Caton has performed in television, theatre and film both in Australia and abroad.

Variety - the Children's Charity is proud to have Michael Caton as a patron.

Michael Caton

John Williamson AM

As an Australian country music singer-songwriter, John Williamson has released over 32 albums and has received 24 Golden Guitar Awards at the Country Music Awards of Australia.

Variety the children's charity New South Wales is proud to have John Williamson as a patron. 

"In my business we are inundated with requests from charities to give a hand. My answer nowadays is that I have to stick to just a few favourites which I'm passionate about. Variety is at the top of my list because Meg and I respect and enjoy its hand-on style; with virtually no middle man, we see first hand where the money is going; to the kids who need it. We have to admit also that the NSW Variety Bash has become an important part of our life and we have met and made many generous and lifelong friends through it."

Sam Moran

With the Wiggles, Sam has toured the world 10 times over, with almost 1 million tickets sold annually to the live shows. As the Yellow Wiggle, Sam recorded over 10 albums & DVD releases in addition to two- television series; winning five Australian Recording Industry Awards (ARIAs) as well as being entered into the ARIA Hall of Fame in 2011. In 2009, he received an Honorary Doctorate from Sydney’s Macquarie University in the area of Children’s Education and Psychology.

Sam fronted the Wiggles’ Spin-off show, touring Australia and the United States until 2002 when he was asked to fill-in for the then- Yellow Wiggle. He subsequently became a full-time understudy for the group, touring full-time for 4 years. In 2006, when the former Yellow Wiggle was forced to leave the group for medical reasons, Sam was asked to take his place and quickly became a favourite amongst new young fans worldwide. For over 5 years he has become the only Yellow Wiggle that an entire generation of fans has come to know.

Sam has been chosen to front his own kids’ TV show on Foxtel’s Nickelodeon Junior. “Play Along With Sam” features Sam as a Dr Doolittle-type character performing all of Sam’s own original songs.

George Houvardasgeorge_houvardas 

George Houvardas has been one of the leading actors, playing the role of the beloved Carbo for Seven Networks Packed To The Rafters for the last 6 years. In 2009 George was nominated for a Logie Award as 'Best new male talent'.

Goerge is a family man, when he's not busy acting, he works at his family's restaurant at McMahon's Point, Sydney, where he still he waits on tables and greets guests.

Peter Kuruvita 

Acclaimed Chef, Restaurateur, Author, and TV presenter, Peter Kuruvita, began his love affair with food and passion for cooking in the traditional kitchen of his ancestral home in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

After establishing himself as a well-known chef in Australia and cooking around the globe, Peter opened Sydney’s award-winning Flying Fish Restaurant & Bar in 2004, and successfully led the kitchen team as Executive Chef for 8 years. Today his legacy still lives on through its’ creative modern dishes with a strong seafood focus and great reputation.

Peter has gone on to open other successful restaurants, Flying Fish at Sheraton Fiji Resort in 2008 and Steakhouse in 2013. Peter also spreads his love of Sri Lanka and cooking through his cook books 'Serendip- My Sri Lankan Kitchen' and 'My Feast with Peter Kuruvita'.

Peter starred in his first TV series 'My Sri Lanka with Peter Kuruvita' which has been nominated for the 'The Rockies' Banff World Media Awards 2012’ as well as Peter being nominated for an Australian ‘Logies 2012 Award’ in the “Best New Male Talent” category.

Danny Buderus

Danny Buderus is the most capped player for the Newcastle Knights having played 257 first grade games. Among his representative honours, Danny played 24 games for the Kangaroos and wore the beloved Blue jersey for NSW in 21 consecutive games, 15 of those as captain and led NSW to state if origin victory in 2005.

Danny was highly respected for his passion and commitment whenever he ran on the field so much so that his peers openly say that "he was the player everyone wanted to play with.”

Married with three children Danny is keen to continue demonstrating that passion and commitment by giving back to the community that gave him so much during his football career.

Laura Andon Laura_Andon

Laura began her career surfing professionally for giant surf company Billabong. Whilst competing and encouraging females to enjoy the fun and natural lifestyle, she progressed into modelling and also featuring in many TV Commercials. She quickly emerged as a TV presenter and actor, also hosting various high profile events. Whilst auditioning for film and TV, Laura has been traveling back and forth to Hollywood for various opportunities.

Laura also spends a great deal of time with youth as a PDHPE high school teacher, educating students about health and fitness. With her natural zest for life and positive nature, she makes the perfect ambassador for Variety. Laura's written an Inspirational Learn to Surf book, 'Ride of Life' which launched in 2012.

"Being an Ambassador for Variety has allowed me to commit on a deeper level to the charity, hoping to make a greater change to the lives of disadvantaged children.

I believe children deserve to be free and joyful, so i never want to take my role for granted, keeping my motivations very simple, real, and positive. I believe the art to life is to appreciate and contribute, so to place meaning to my life i feel it is necessary to develop a reasoned desire for others to be happy.

Variety are doing amazing things for children and i feel blessed to be on that same journey".

Laura Andon

Paul Harragon Paul_harragon

Paul ‘The Chief' Harragon OAM is one of rugby league’s modern day legends, in more ways than one. Born and bred in the Hunter, The Chief is a foundation member of the Newcastle Knights Football Club, Chairman of the Advisory Board and the first Newcastle Knight to captain his country. Paul played 205 club games, having many wins and receiving many honoury awards. 

He went on to be a member of the Nine Network's rugby league commentary team on the logie winning Footy Show for a period of 14 years and became a household name nationally with his many endorsements.

Paul Harragon was an Ambassador for the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney and was appointed an Official Ambassador for the Hunter by Bob Car in May 2000. He has been a patron for the Hunter Medical Research Foundation and the NBN Telethon for Kids and supports a number of not for profit organisations. In 2002 he was inducted into the New South Wales Hall of Fame and in 2003, Paul received the NSW Children’s Week Award in 2003 in recognition for outstanding service to children.

Matt Adamson

After 248 professional First Grade games, spanning over 16 years both in Australia and the UK and having represented at State of Origin and Test level, Matt Adamson brings a wealth of personal experience to the professional football industry.

Following the conclusion of his football career, Matt moved on to coaching the next generation of football stars as well as sharing his love for the game through his Fox sports' and Weekend Sunrise sports' presenter role.

In 2008 Matt and wife Bec, founded the Princess Charlotte Alopecia Program, raising funds and awareness for children with alopecia areata. In 2013 Variety - the Children's Charity took over operation of the program, continuing Matt & Bec's great work in supporting children with alopecia areata. Following Variety's takeover of the program, Matt has continued to work closely with Variety and supporting the work with children in need.
