Before you apply

For families of kids who have a disability, chronic illness, facing financial hardship, geographic isolation or who require critical care, finding support can be a challenge. Each year, thousands of these children and their families turn to Variety for support when they need it most.

Variety aims to assist families, hospitals and organisations with general healthcare supplies and equipment not available from existing government sources (e.g. NDIS, EnableNSW) and other support services. The granting of funding for equipment, therapy (Rare Diseases – Smile Program only) and medical needs is assessed case by case. For more information on our application procedures, refer to our Frequently Asked Questions.

Please ensure you check with your planner (if you have one) before submitting an application to see if your needs can be met via existing government sources (e.g. NDIS, EnableNSW) or other support services.

GRANTS
We grant a range of items to provide practical help for individuals and organisations in need. We grant medical & mobility supplies & equipment, technology, vehicle modifications, educational resources, feeds, nappies, wigs and Sunshine Coaches. We help kids communicate, increase their self-esteem and social skills, and get out and about to enjoy the freedom of being a kid.

SERVICES
We offer a Rare Care Service to help families who have a child with a rare disease or condition by providing practical case management assistance. Our Case Managers link the family with relevant services, advocate on their behalf, ensure the family receives the correct benefits and can help find other support.

PROGRAMS
We run programs to educate and empower kids. We deliver a range of great programs including our Activate Inclusion Sports Days, so all kids can try sport, our Just Like You disability anti-bullying program run through schools and Starting with Art to give the opportunity for every kid to learn and enjoy art.

SCHOLARSHIPS
We give kids scholarships to celebrate their achievements and to provide support to help them reach their full potential and follow their dreams. The Variety Heart Scholarships support kids with an existing talent across the arts, sport and education.

EVENTS
We bring joy to kids and encourage engagement with their community by holding exciting events such as Variety Musical Picnics, Kids Xmas Parties and more. These events allow kids to have fun, meet new people and participate in new experiences
