Variety – the Children’s Charity NSW/ACT is calling on all those with a spirit of adventure – and a tolerance for dust – as registrations are now open for the 3rd annual Variety Adventure Ride.

The six-day charity motorcycle event gives riders the opportunity to explore regional NSW while raising vital funds for kids in need.

The 2022 ride will begin in Tamworth on Sunday 20 March with riders covering 1780km of forest trails, mountain roads and dirt tracks before returning to Tamworth on Friday 25 March.

Variety NSW/ACT CEO Vanessa Barry said she encourages anyone with a roadworthy ‘adventure bike’ to register now to secure their spot.

“The Adventure Ride is not a race or a contest of any kind – it’s an opportunity to explore outback NSW while having the trip of a lifetime with your mates, or new friends you make along the way.”

“The event offers a great chance for adventure bike enthusiasts to get their bikes off road with all the back-up they need to really enjoy the ride.”

“We have an extensive support crew with more than 20 ride officials accompanying the riders every day including a baggage vehicle, paramedics and mechanics, so we take a lot of the stress out of tackling these outback roads.”

Vanessa said the ride supports regional NSW communities with the event bringing much needed business and tourism dollars to remote locations.

“The ride injects more than $80,000 over the six days into rural towns through accommodation, meals, fuel and more for the riders.”

Participants in the Variety Adventure Ride must be over 18 and are required to raise at least $2000 to take part in the trip.

The funds raised help Variety to support children in NSW and the ACT who are sick, experiencing disadvantage or living with a disability.

“Our vision at Variety is for all children to attain their full potential, regardless of ability or background,” said Vanessa.

“Through our grants, programs and scholarships, we provide essential support when families need it most.”

“In the past year, we impacted the lives of 28,500 kids in need, granting $2.694m to children.”

The Variety Adventure Ride is proudly supported by Pickles, long term supporters of Variety motoring events including the iconic Bash.

Pickles National Manager – Industrial, Nick Johnson, said he is thrilled that Pickles is once again supporting the event.

“We are proud to partner with Variety to bring this event to life once again and I can’t wait to get my own bike back out there on the roads and tracks it was designed for, and to help support kids and rural communities who have been doing it tough.”
