Announcing the 2019 Variety Heart Scholarships recipients

September 16, 2019 by nswadmin

It is with great excitement that we announce the 2019 Variety Heart Scholarships recipients.

This round is the largest round on record, for both number of successful recipients and amount granted.

Variety provides scholarships to children with an existing talent living with disabilities, chronic illness or financial hardship to achieve their full potential and to follow their dreams.

Variety Heart Scholarships are presented in three talent areas – Sport (67% of recipients), Education (1% of recipients) and The Arts (32% of recipients).

Recipients came from across NSW and the ACT. 58% live in metropolitan areas and 42% in regional areas. Outside of the Sydney basin (26%), there were large groups of recipients in the Hunter (22%), Northern NSW (21%), Illawarra/Shoalhaven (11%), and Northern NSW (21%).

“Every year it is a joy to see what the Variety Heart Scholarship recipients are up to. The kids work really hard pursuing their dreams and we’re proud to support them on their journey.” said Marisa Turcinskis, Head of Kids Support. “Congratulations to all the successful recipients”.

The Variety Heart Scholarships are made possible by the generous support of our presenting partners, the Grahame Mapp Family Foundation in honour of the late Gillian Mapp.

Some of the previous recipients have gone on to represent Australia on the world stage, whilst others have simply needed help to reach the next stage of development in their talent. We cannot wait to hear what the 2019 Variety Heart Scholarship alumni get up to over the next 12 months.
