Variety volunteers have taken on Spartan Race! They were first inspired to help kids in need when they volunteered their time helping out at the Variety Kids Sports Camp. Now they’ve put their skills to the test in Spartan Race, one of the most challenging obstacle running events in the world. There are numerous Spartan Races held each year in multiple locations worldwide.
Along the way, they faced many obstacles from hills, rocky terrain and creeks to cross. For our fundraisers, it was about much more than just reaching the finish line though. In the lead up to the event, they worked hard to raise funds for Variety kids in need. In total they raised $1100, which they chose to go towards the Variety Kids Sports Camp.
Variety Kids Sports Camp is a two and a half day camp offered to kids aged between 6 and 15 years old who are living with a physical disability. The camp gives kids an opportunity to trial a range of different sports to see which they enjoy and have the capacity to continue playing. Variety gives ongoing support to families of kids who participate to help them get connected with local sporting clubs, so their kids can be involved in their favourite sports long-term.
Registrations for Variety Kids Sports Camp at the Gold Coast in 2023 are currently open! This is a great chance for kids to learn new skills and make new friends in a fun, inclusive environment. There are limited places available so register now to make sure you don’t miss out!
