Variety – the Children’s Charity of Queensland conducted their largest ever lottery with the prize being a Toyota Prado plus a Yamaha WaveRunner and trailer, making it the ultimate luxury escape. The prize, drawn on July 7, was valued at $81,733 and was kindly supported by Linemac Toyota and NRG Industrial.

The lucky winner was local Windemere resident, Sandii Lewis.

Sandii was ecstatic to hear she was the winner and is a testament to the old adage ‘you’ve got to be in it to win it’, having only purchased one ticket in the draw. She said she purchased a ticket because it was a good cause, not intending to win and was in disbelief when Variety CEO, Steve Wakerley, called her that Friday afternoon with the exciting news.

Funds support children in need to overcome whatever obstacles life has thrown at them. Each month, Variety Queensland receives many requests for support by way of equipment or services to assist children who are sick, disadvantaged or who have special needs; items which are often very expensive and beyond the financial reach of most families.

Alan Grimshaw, Dealer Principal at Linemac Toyota, said that it was a pleasure to support a charity that helps kids who could otherwise fall through the gaps. Alan said, “I’ve been supporting Variety for a few years now and I get to witness firsthand the impact that they have on children and their families”.
