Variety Vision for Kids Program
Variety works in conjunction with the Ophthalmology Department at the Women’s and Children’s Hospital to support children from birth to 18 years who require spectacles as part of their treatment to avoid permanent developmental vision loss or damage. For those not eligible for the Glasses SA Spectacle Scheme, or those who require assistance in covering the gap, Variety can help.
Variety SA Sprout Fund
The Sprout Fund will offer eight organisations or individuals certainty of funding with a grant of $50,000 per annum for three consecutive years. In total we have committed to offer each successful applicant $150,000 – a total investment of $1.2m across this new initiative.
Having the chance to make the most of an education is the bridge to a brighter future. Variety supports children’s education, through things like technology, music, sport, therapy or a scholarship. Variety also proudly provides a range of support to special education and disadvantaged schools.
The Variety Freedom Program provides funding for mobility equipment like wheelchairs, prosthesis, walking frames and customised tricycles so children can get out and about. For many children, moving and communicating better means greater independence, freedom and self-esteem.
Caring For Kids
Learning that your child needs access to a rare and often expensive piece of medical equipment or service can be a daunting experience.
The Variety Smile Program offers financial and practical help to children affected by a rare disease or condition. It also facilitates access to information, resources and services for the families and carers of children affected by a rare disease or condition.
Variety – the Children’s Charity provides wigs to kids who have lost their hair due to Alopecia or another medical condition such as cancer. Losing your hair can have profound psychological effects, particularly through childhood and adolescence.
Schools and organisations
Variety helps schools and organisations with things like all-ability playgrounds, Liberty swings (modified for special needs), and sunshine coaches for transporting children, which can be wheelchair modified.
Liberty Swings allow children in wheelchairs or afflicted by a physical impairment the chance to enjoy the joy of swinging.
Variety Sunshine Coaches provide transport to organisations that cater for children with physical disability, regional or social disadvantage, to enable them to access the community and to experience a range of special programs and activities.
Variety’s Scholarship Program provides scholarships for children with an existing talent, who are disadvantaged or living with a disability, to achieve their full potential and to follow their dreams.
