Over 110,000 children, 30,000 square metres of space, 14,000 work hours and 23 years of support.
Variety – the Children’s Charity has partnered with the Melbourne Exhibition and Convention Centre since 1996 when they first donated their incredible venue for thousands of children to enjoy the Variety Children’s Christmas Party – for many the only celebration they experience at this time of year.
In true community spirit, over 150 MCEC staff members each year also donate their time on party day to work tirelessly to put smiles on the faces of children in need.
MCEC’s Chief Executive Peter King said: “Our employees always look forward to taking part in this special event each year, which is a great opportunity to get involved with a very important cause.
It is always a pleasure to open our doors, showcase MCEC to the people of Victoria and bring smiles to the children and families who benefit from the incredible support services that Variety provides.
MCEC is committed to supporting the local community through fostering partnerships with organisations such as Variety, and we look forward to continuing our relationship for many years to come.
The venue has also donated their premises for large scale Variety bike presentations to disadvantaged children as well as Variety special events and meetings.
