Variety Charity Link is a collaborative charity program which provides the framework for more than one hundred West Australian charities to work together and as such, make the biggest difference possible to thousands of disadvantaged West Australians.
In April 2017 Variety – the Children’s Charity of WA amalgamated with Charity Link to become a coordinating body which provides material aid via our 100+ ‘member’ charities. With a new focus, Variety Charity Link program aims to assist assists over 10,000 young West Australians experiencing financial hardship, disadvantage and/or crisis.
The innovative, yet logical, approach used by Variety Charity Link is unique to Western Australia and is embraced by Lotterywest who generously provide an annual grant to cover Variety Charity Link’s appeal costs.
The Variety Charity Link Christmas Appeal aims to ensure there is a smile on every child’s face on Christmas morning and all West Australian families can enjoy a complete Christmas meal. We do this by coordinating the distribution of food and gifts to our member agencies, who in turn distribute items to children and families in need.
Winter Blanket Appeal
The Variety Charity Link Winter Appeal aims to make winter warmer for all West Australians families. As part of the appeal, over 7,000 fleece blankets are distributed via our member agencies to children and families experiencing financial hardship or crisis.
Back to School Appeal
The Variety Charity Link Back 2 School Appeal has been developed to assist over 1,500 West Australian children to succeed academically encourage students to attend and stay in school longer. This appeal aims to provide basic stationery items packed into a backpack for primary school students and relieve some of the financial burdens that families face at the beginning of each school year.
Located in every region of Western Australia, Variety Charity Link’s 100+ members are predominately small to medium not-for-profit organisations who work with children and their families. This involves all facets of community support, including:
- Community Resource Organisations
- Crisis and Emergency Accomodation
- Disability Support Services
- Emergency Relief
- Multicultural Services, including refugee Assistance
- Victim Support
- Women’s Refugees
- Youth Services
