Most of Car 48’s various crew members over the years work in the Melbourne construction industry, so Men at Work was their original theme but this soon reverted to Men (not) at Work when it was realised that there was not much work being done by this crew – especially on the Bash!

There have been a number of crew members over the years. However, the most recent and longest running crew includes Nick Psaltis completing 13 Bashes to date, Graham Jolly with 11, Michael Boek 5. Micky our resident mechanic and trivia master, will not be bashing this year so it will not quite be the same but hopefully he is back on board in 2018.

Past crew members have included Rob Harris (2 Bashes), David Moodie (2 bashes) and Wayne Hammermiester completing one Bash, all as part of the Men (not) at Work crew.

The current crew for the 2017 Bash is still being formalised with Nick and Graham as definite starters, and Peter McKenna as a potential crew member.

This team enjoys getting out of the cold Victorian winter as quickly as possible, travelling with new and old mates, and seeing parts of Australia that they haven’t seen before and may never see again.

They also enjoy meeting the typical Aussie battlers who live in remote parts of the country, visiting their towns and pubs, and enjoying a good yak.

The camaraderie, tales of woe, and catch up conversations at the end of each day are a highlight, as are the “gutter stops” in the middle of nowhere.

It’s also comforting to know that no matter what happens on the Bash, you will never get left behind, and we are all part of the one big team that looks after its own.

Nick and the team say the support crews are fantastic and they can’t wait to hit the road in August!

Why they love Variety...

Variety and the Bash are great because we raise money for kids living with illness, disadvantage and disability as well as have some fun doing it – it’s a win win for everyone!

How much?!

Total amount raised by the Team is in excess of $200,000 for Variety.
