Car 98 - "The Avengers" (2019)

Theme: The Avengers

Car: 1967 Holden HR

Crew: Anthony Hill, Damien Griffiths, Troy McDonald, Wendy Walsh

Team bio

We are the Team Avengers in the car 98 HR wagon.
The team, within the car, are comprised from original members Anthony Hill (Hulk) and Damien Griffiths (Spider-man come Captain America). Wendy Walsh (Black Widow) joined the team in 2018 and Troy McDonald (Thor) is our virgin member in 2019.
We are blessed to be involved with such an amazing charity and team.
Variety offers an avenue to understand and support children and families with disabilities. Appreciation for what we have and the drive to financially support and spread the variety message about struggling families has built our team.
Our team is much more than the four people lucky enough to go on the bash. Our team is built of dedicated supporters, followers, sponsors and friends. They all contribute to Team Avengers and we are very grateful of their support.

Favourite memories from previous Variety Bash events

There are too many. This is the reason why we return and see ourselves being involved for a very long time. Winning a bash flag on our virgin year for our connection to the kids would have to be right up there.

Others that stick are –

The amazing thank you speech from a teacher at Keith in 2017.

The amazing tracks that saw us venture up to the wind farms on the Eyre Peninsula 2018.

The antics of Deeon at the woolshed in Renmark 2017.

The funstops that MASH and the Flintstones put on 2017.

The human foosball table game the cops created at Keith 2017.

The grant that was handed out to the young girl at the 2019 bash launch. (tears to the eyes)

Anything else you would like to share…

We are a very active team who is out most weekends raising money for Variety.
We also participate in events that do not raise a lot of money, but supports children. Adults dressing up as superheros was initially embarrassing, but seeing the smiles on children’s faces quickly changes your mindset. Having your photo taken with a child and creating a positive memory, even for a day, is uplifting.
The guys that build our team might dress and pretend to be superheros, but they are the real deal to the children of Variety and the community.
