Team Lightning McQueen burst on the to Bash scene in 2018 for this first Bash, they certainly made an impression by taking out the Daly Waters Virgin Basher of the Year Award. Darren and Michelle are always an absolute hit with the kids naturally congregating around their amazing ’74 Beetle, Lightning McQueen!

Tell us about your Bash Car
VW Beetle 74 super bug with a poacher flare kit, themed of off road Lightning McQueen, we brought it from an auction centre in Darwin, it had been attacked with an axe, with axe holes in the roof and door pillars so it needed a bit of TLC…. Over all Blame Damo and Michelle (Team Toy Story) for getting us involved.
Tell us about your team members

Our team: Darren and Michelle Elliott. We live in Darwin and run spirit of Darwin cruises, We have 2 amazing young boys 14 and 17 who are supporting us all the way, they cant wait till we leave to go on the Bash. (The dog will miss us). While I (Darren) am normal, Michelle is my pocket rocket and chaos in life, who will take any bloke on ????????.  (Depends on the glasses champers). My Mission statement in life is keeping out of the way of Michelle.

How many NT Bashes have you and your team mates each completed?

3 Bashes. We are no longer Virgins!!  We loved it and even won the Virgin Bashers of the Year  in 2018 and we can’t wait to get back and do it all again.

What is your Team story/history?

We have a back ground in off road racing and rallying, this why we chose off road Lightning McQueen after the kids toy. We chose the name off road Lightning McQueen because it represented our car style. It was a family decision.
