An entry fee per vehicle of $330, plus a minimum fundraising goal depending on how many days you join us on the TasBash.

Accommodation, fuel and any other vehicle costs are also the responsibility of participants.

Each participant is required to pay a minimal provision to cover food and entertainment. The provision rate per day varies slightly depending on the amount of days you participate.

TasBash participants use a variety of ways to reach their fundraising goal. Many host events such as dinners, trivia nights, sausage sizzles, while others seek support from their family and friends. Other ideas are included in the TasBash Events Manual, which will be provided when you register.

Yes, state legislation now requires ALL Bashers to possess current Working with Children Registration.

Applications can be completed by visiting www.justice.tas.gov.au/working_with_children/application and further help can be sought by phoning 1300 13 55 13.  Completing a ‘Consent to Check and Release a National Police Certificate’ is also mandatory.

Fundraising cannot cover the registration fee, meals, accommodation or costs associated with your car.

TasBash 2019 runs across five days but participants can choose to join us for 1,2,3, 4 or 5 days. Its up to you!

No, the TasBash is a fun and social event, or in the words of the originator Dick Smith, ‘A drive in the outback with a few mates’. 

The TasBash has a mechanic vehicle that will help with a repair along the side of the road, with the entrant’s assistance. However, if you are in a town that has a mechanical workshop and they are able to fix your car, this is the preferred option.

The minimum is two and the maximum is four.

No, the route and destination changes  year to year. The overnight stops are announced a few months before the TasBash.

Safety is the primary focus of the officials. All cars are tracked during the day by officials, who are in contact via HF radio with a central command post. The TasBash has its own paramedic and has full contact with local authorities. No entrant will be left behind.

Once the overnight stops have been announced it is up to the entrants to book all of their accommodation unless advised by Variety. Availability of accommodation in each location can vary from hotel/motel, bed & breakfast, cabins, and camp grounds.  

Variety Tasmania organizes catering for the TasBash.

You will receive three meals a day on the Bash as well as entry to the final presentation dinner, entertainment and any tours that have been organized. A minimum participant provision fee is charged per person for these inclusions depending on how many days you join us for.

In the spirit of the event, the only serious prizes or awards are for fundraising. There are various levels of achievements.  Other awards are humorous – such as the Best Themed Car and Best Team.

When you are a registered entrant, you will receive regular newsletters and a Bash Entrant’s Event Manual explaining the rules and regulations and some ideas about fundraising.
