2020 NT Bash Cancelled
To our dear Variety NT Bash Community,
No-one can doubt that 2020 will be an extraordinary year. With the fast changing landscape which is COVID 19 it is with great regret that we have decided to cancel the 2020 NT BASH.
Over the last few days it has become increasingly obvious to us that it will be extremely difficult for many of you to participate in the Bash. This is due to the difficulty in fundraising and also the travel restrictions currently in place. Also of great concern are the restrictions in place banning unnecessary travel to remote communities.
In this time of great uncertainty we have decided to act decisively so that we provide you with some certainty. The following provides you with the necessary information for now:
1) The 2020 Noony to Nhuly Variety NT Bash is cancelled
2) The fundraising that has already occurred will be transferred as a soft credit to the car that has raised it. This tally will not count towards your required minimum fundraising for 2021, just your total. There will be a revised minimum for those of you who have already registered and commenced fundraising.
3) The 2020 fundraising year will still finish on Friday 7 August and we will be announcing a Top Hat winner.
4) Car registration fees will be transferred to the 2021 Bash. While normally not refundable, should you wish to seek a refund please advise Katrina or Viviane.
5) We are continuing to work on identifying potential Bash grants that would have been allocated if the Bash had actually occurred. Where possible we will provide those grants to those schools and communities as soon as we can.
To all Bash participants both past and present please know that this decision was not taken lightly. Your work in helping us help the kids of the NT is invaluable. In the last 28 years you have raised over $4 million. Along the way you have helped kids like Aviana McElwee with a shiny red wheelchair; you have planted orchards; put books into school libraries; donated Sunshine Buses and established accessible play as a priority for Councils.
To enable us to continue to help kids; our Variety NT staff have all volunteered to work reduced hours. We are also seeking to minimise all other overheads and will be constantly evaluating the situation. We will continue to keep you informed as together, we navigate these uncharted waters.
Our kids are our community’s most vulnerable. Their need does not stop. Now, more than ever we need your support to help us help NT Kids.
Thank you for continuing to support Variety NT, for any queries please call 08 8981 2544 or email [email protected]
Kind regards,
Liza Houghton
