Ivy, one of our Variety kids, is 11-year-old and lives with Cerebral Palsy. She has experienced her own challenges from living with a disability and is grateful to have received support from Variety. Ivy understands what it’s like to have a hard time fitting in at school and feeling included. Now she wants to give back and make a difference in the lives of kids who are sick, disadvantaged or living with a disability.

Ivy is both shaving her head and fundraising for Variety’s Hair with Heart program. Variety’s Hair with Heart program supports kids who have lost their hair due to a long-term medical condition. A common autoimmune disease which causes hair loss is Alopecia. It occurs when the body’s immune system attacks hair follicles. Alopecia Awareness Week was held this year from the 12th to 20th of November to spread awareness on the condition.

For many kids, losing their hair due to a long-term medical condition like Alopecia can have a huge effect on their self-esteem. Hair with Heart gives kids the gift of confidence by providing them with wigs, thanks to the generosity of people like Ivy who donate their hair to the cause.

Ivy has reached her fundraising goal of $2,000 and is very close to raising $3,000! We are incredibly grateful for her dedication to creating an impact for kids in need. Thank you Ivy and all our Variety supporters for helping us make programs like Hair with Heart possible.
