This August over 330 participants and 77 cars revved up their engines for the annual Variety Bash, Australia’s largest charity motoring event. They navigated the stunning Australian outback in 30+ year old cars to raise funds for Variety. The 2023 event wrapped up with over $1.6 million raised to support Aussie kids in need.

The Bashers travelled through diverse terrains and camped at picturesque locations such as Lara Wetlands and The Rocks Farming Company amidst cane fields, complete with a cane fire display. Despite breakdowns and many cars getting bogged and towed out of sand on the first day, it was a great adventure with some unforgettable memories made.

One exciting part about this year’s event was a record number of 18 school stops where Bashers got to hand out toys and meet some of the kids their fundraising has impacted. The finale took place at Trinity Beach State School and was brimming with energy as hundreds of kids cheered on the Bashes.

Variety couldn’t be more grateful for all the Bashers who come together each year to create change. Over $1.6 million raised is an outstanding achievement that will support kids and families who need it most all year round. As we look back on the dust-kissed trails, one truth emerges – the Bash doesn’t just drive cars; it drives hope.
