Hard-working Fundraiser Wins Variety Heart Lottery 0006

Congratulations to the lucky winner of our latest Variety Heart Lottery – Susan Burgess.

Susan has been helping Variety to give Aussie kids a fair go for 11 years and plans on using the winnings to take her daughters and granddaughter on a family holiday to the Great Ocean Road in October.

“Variety is my charity – it’s all about the kids” she said when asked about the reason for her support. Over the years she has helped with the Special Children’s Christmas Party, countless fundraising barbecues, Santa Fun Runs, Melbourne Cup events and making quilts.

Her fundraising has also been in support of her daughter Karen’s participation in the Variety Bash. Karen has taken part in 7 Variety Bash events since 2008 as well as other events including the Variety 4WD Adventure and Brats Bash. Helping her daughter to help more kids is important to Susan as she says there are too many out there that still need assistance.

A wonderful example of the connection that exists amongst the Variety family, the Burgess family also extends their support to other Bashers, such as Team Aussie Rock. The Burgess family bought a table at Aussie Rock’s inaugural Dinner Dance, where they purchased their Variety Heart Lottery tickets to continue supporting kids in need.

Aussie Rock team captain, Steve Whittam said there were “lots of winners that night” – not just Susan, but also two new Variety Heart Scholarship recipients, 15-year-old Tom and 17-year-old William. The event was a great success, raising an incredible $17,000 in profits. “We do it to help other kids and enjoy meeting the families of the kids we help,” said Sue Whittam, crew member of Aussie Rock.

Variety Heart Lottery 0007 is now open, giving you the chance to be the next lucky winner of $10,000 cash, just like Susan. Click here to get your tickets today!
