At 10am on Friday 26 August the doors will once again open at the Hobart Variety Monster Book Fair. Building upon the success of last year’s event, raising in excess of $35,000, Variety Tasmania hopes to raise even more funds from the sale of quality pre-loved books, DVDs, CDs, games and puzzles to assist Tasmanian children who are sick, disadvantaged or have special needs.
The result of this sensational example of public spirit is a Monster Book Fair which will promote for sale thousands of books, hundreds of DVD’s and wide range of CD’s, games and puzzles, all neatly displayed on tables spanning the length of over three Olympic-sized swimming pools!
The Variety Monster Book Fair is a culmination of support and effort from all corners of our community. During ‘Monster May’ wonderful people donated items for the Fair by taking them to their local Shiploads store. The fantastic Shiploads Teams then transported these treasures to a group of dedicated Variety Tasmania volunteers who spent a combined total of over 400 hours to quality check and sort them into categories.
The Hobart Variety Monster Book Fair will be held within the Boardwalk Gallery and Wellington Room at Wrest Point from 10am-8pm on Friday 26 August, 9am-5pm on Saturday 27 August and 10am-5pm on Sunday 28 August. See www.varietytas.org.au for further details.
