March 15, 2024 by nswadmin

More than 150 Novocastrians from 22 teams spun their way to fun, fitness & a fundraising total of more than $50,000 in the 8th annual Variety Spin 4 Kids event at Newcastle Jockey Club today.

The five-hour spin bike challenge raised $53,288 for children who are sick, experiencing disadvantage or living with a disability.

Variety NSW/ACT CEO Tony Warner said this year’s event was once again a huge success thanks to the incredible support of the local Newcastle community.

“It was great to see people of all ages spinning today, some as young as 16 and some a spritely 62, but all united in their commitment to keeping the wheels turning and helping those kids who need it most,” he said.

“We are grateful to everyone who came along today, as well as to those friends, family members and colleagues who donated in support of those sweating it out on the bikes.”

“My thanks also to our major event sponsor, Newcastle Coal Infrastructure Group, as well as to the team from NuSport for supplying our equipment.”

“The funds raised today will help deliver grants, scholarships and programs to families doing it tough in the Hunter and throughout NSW/ ACT.”

The heart thumping, music pumping day finished with the following award announcements:
