When Variety Heart Scholarship recipient Christopher, 17, discovered rodeo he had no idea it would take him to Las Vegas, representing Australia at the Junior National Rodeo Finals.
“After competing in two rounds, riding my two head of stock I qualified to compete in what they call the short go, after another successful ride my tallied score was announced and I had become the World Champion 14/15 Years Junior Bull Riding Champion.” said Christopher.
His success in Las Vegas came after years of hard work and success within Australia. Christopher came 9th in the World, World Rodeo High School Finals, won the 2017 Easter Zones Rodeo, 2017 Bad Company Title, 2017 & 2016 & 2015 Eastern Zone, 2017 East Coast Championships, 2016 & 2015 Title Winner National Finals 11-14 Steer Ride, 2016 &2015 Central Circuit, 2014 7th National Finals Average, Eastern Zone Winner, 2013 Title Winner National Finals 8-11 Steer Ride, Average Winner and the 2012 Average Winner and Round Winner.
“Rodeo is Chris’ lifeblood and his chance to make something of himself regardless of his disability. His confidence level has really increased as he develops his own skill in life and younger riders look at him as a role model.” said proud mum Maree.

In 2018 Christopher received a Variety Heart Scholarship in Sport for Rodeo.
The Scholarship was awarded to cover training, entry/competition fees, lessons/tuition, equipment, uniforms, travel, and accommodation with Christopher’s ultimate goal being to return to the USA and represent Australia once again.
