With Australia facing an unprecedented bushfire and drought disaster, Variety – the Children’s Charity NSW/ACT has allocated $100,000 of grant funding to a dedicated Bushfire Fund. 100% of the funds will be used to support children and their families, and community organisations impacted by the devastating 2019/2020 fires in NSW and ACT.
When the current, urgent needs have been met, families and communities will still have significant work ahead of them to rebuild. Variety has a rich history of supporting kids who are sick, disadvantaged or have special needs, helping to fill the gaps to ensure no child misses out. Our role in the bush fire emergency will be to provide support to families and communities in the mid to long term.
We will be consulting with our partners and other organisations in impacted communities to determine the most efficient and useful ways that we can respond by providing help where and when it’s most needed.
The Bushfire Fund will be open for applications for as long as there is a need. Details of when applications open will be available shortly.
