Thanks to his Variety Heart Scholarship, Noah is now a fully trained pool lifeguard. Noah is one of our newest scholarship recipients from the recent 2022/2023 application rounds. Variety Heart Scholarships help give kids a fair go to follow their dreams.

Noah is 17-years-old and lives with ASD, ADHD and Anxiety Disorder. Due to his disability, he was placed on a medication which caused him to gain an excessive amount of weight as a side effect. Since finding his passion for swimming 4 years ago, he has managed to lose weight.

Noah’s dream is to become a Paralympic Medallist, and to inspire others to follow in his footsteps. He wants other kids who are living with a disability or who have struggled with their weight to have big goals and aim for the stars just like he does.

To strive toward his goals, Noah dedicates six days each week to training in both the pool and gym. He is already ranked 1st in Queensland for 200m Breaststroke Long Course and sits in the top 5 for other Breaststroke events. With the scholarship, he has been able to get his first ever swim race suit and goggles which he is excited to use at competitions.

The scholarship will help support him to start his long-term career of being a swim teacher. He has started teaching classes for adult learn to swim beginners. Now that he’s completed his lifeguard and first aid certification he can start getting paid for this. As he nears the end of his schooling, he also hopes to obtain employment at his local aquatic centre where he trains.

With the assistance of his scholarship, Noah has had great success so far in achieving his goals. Thank you for supporting Variety and making it possible for us to support kids like Noah with Variety Heart Scholarships.
