Variety Bash 2022 - The Iconic Adventure for Aussie Kids
The Variety Bash is an iconic Australian event that has raised over $220 million nationally since 1985 to help kids who are sick, disadvantaged or living with disability. It’s the ultimate adventure with mates driving 30+ year old cars through outback Queensland. This year is set to be one of Queensland’s biggest Bashes yet. The 10-day event kicks off in Winton on 29th August and finishes in Yeppoon on 7th September.
Over the past twelve months, the Variety Bash participants (also fondly known as ‘Bashers’ by many Variety supporters), have been working hard to reach their fundraising goals. Participants have many different and creative ways to fundraise including raffles, selling Variety Heart Lottery tickets, hosting events and functions, bake sales, and much more. We are incredibly grateful for all that our Bashers do to help improve the lives of Aussie kids who are doing it tough.
To celebrate the amazing fundraising efforts each year’s Variety Bash is a ‘bucket list’ experience through the stunning Queensland outback and a chance for participants to see the impact they have created in regional communities.
Starting ‘way out west’ in Winton, travelling through some of Australia’s most beautiful remote locations and historic regional sites such as Boulia, Kynuna and Bedourie. This year’s Bash will also visit the frontier town of Birdsville and Bashers will attend the iconic Birdsville Races, a once in a lifetime experience.
The participants will also get to meet some of the kids they’re directly helping through their fundraising, stopping at nine schools along the way. These schools are some of the most remote in the country with kids often missing out on opportunities due to their isolation. However thanks to the amazing fundraising efforts of the Bashers the kids in these communities will be the beneficiaries of some extremely exciting surprises along the way.
It’s commonly said amongst Bashers that once you become a Variety Basher, you’re forever a Variety Basher. Most people who only plan to sign up for one year of the event, end up coming back again year after year! All the fun of the event aside, the very best part about being a Variety Basher is that you become a real hero for the Aussie kids who need it the most.
