Two Wonderful Celebrations for Variety Kids Support
It’s been an exciting time for the Variety NSW/ACT Kids Support team, with two incredible moments of recognition and celebration to share!
Collaboration Excellence Award
We’re thrilled to announce that the Variety Flying Start Paediatric Service, delivered in partnership with Marathon Health, has been honoured with the Collaboration Excellence Award at the 2025 Third Sector Awards!
This national recognition highlights the vital work we’re doing together to ensure children in rural and remote NSW don’t fall through the gaps.
Thanks to the generosity of our Variety community, Flying Start has already helped more than 125 children in rural and remote NSW access the health care they need closer to home.

Variety Heart Scholarship Presentation Night
We also had the joy of celebrating our talented young people at this year’s Variety Heart Scholarship Presentation Night.
With Brian Muller stepping in as MC and doing an incredible job, the evening was filled with inspiring performances and heartfelt stories – from an incredible dance performance, to an empowering on-stage interview with Paralympian Heath Francis and six-time recipient Layla Sharp (now off to the Para World Games), to a moving original song by one of our first-time recipients.
We were also proud to present the Gillian Mapp Award for Outstanding Achievement to musician Jade Park, whose proud parents accepted the award on her behalf.
A heartfelt thank you to the Grahame Mapp Family Foundation for their ongoing sponsorship of the Variety Heart Scholarship program and their generous support on the night – helping more young people pursue their dreams.
