Orica, long term supporters of Variety have donated $10,000 towards our Tech 4 Schools grant, allowing us to fund 10 educational grants for local Hunter kids in need.
Community Investment Program
Orica Kooragang Island is committed to playing an active part in the Hunter community supporting initiatives which bring benefit to the community. The investment program aims to invest in causes, events and programs which reflect their vision and values.
Since supporting Variety, Orica has also generously contributed to the Variety Heart Scholarships program as well as being a corporate sponsor at our annual Variety of Chefs event for five years running.
We can’t thank Orica enough for their support particularly during this tumultuous time when we heavily rely on corporate funding when other fundraising initiatives like our events aren’t possible.

Variety Tech 4 Schools Grant
Variety’s Tech 4 School grant provides a technology pack to students facing financial hardship to ensure they are not disadvantaged due to disruptions to schools during the COVID-19 pandemic. Positive educational outcomes rely on access to technology to support remote learning. This remains true, even as children go back to learning in classrooms.
We believe we can best achieve that goal for kids by facilitating access to education technology supplies.
Working with our partners Harvey Norman we were able to grant a laptop set up to vulnerable kids to allow them to continue to study from home via the Tech 4 School Grant. This includes kids from low-income households and those who’s access to education technology has been affected by drought, bushfires, or COVID-19.
