Variety Home sells for $730,000 at auction

A new home at Rockbank in Melbourne’s west has sold for $730,000 at online auction today, with all profits from the sale to be donated to Variety – the Children’s Charity.

The charity home sold above Rockbank’s median house price of $710,000, with nine bidders battling it out.

The two-storey, four-bedroom Burbank home at 6 Nash Boulevard is located within the Accolade Estate at Rockbank, where the streets are named after well-known cricketers.

Legendary cricketer and Variety friend Merv Hughes attended the auction, getting the bidders excited with a cricket warm-up before the action started.

Variety CEO Mandy Burns said it was not only a new home for a family, but new hope for lots of children in need of vital support.

“As our buyers start their new life in this home, new doors will open for kids who might have otherwise gone without the helping hand they needed to reach their full potential,” she said.

National General Manager, Louis Sultan, said Burbank was proud to be involved in such a worthy cause.

“This is a fantastic result today and we are sure the new owners will love living in their new home – and they can do so knowing they’ve helped to support children in need and their families,” Mr Sultan said.

“With four bedrooms, a rumpus room and breakout area upstairs, the home offers plenty of space for everyone, which is particularly valuable as so many of us now work and learn from home.”

Anthony Braunthal, Co-Founder of Resi Ventures, developer of the Accolade Estate, said Resi Ventures was thrilled to support such an iconic Victorian charity.

“What a great auction day result for Variety – the Children’s Charity! The auction proceeds will significantly contribute to the work Variety does in the community and in many instances be life-changing to many of their recipients. We could not be prouder to be part of this,” he said.

This year’s auction has been made possible through home partners Burbank, Resi Ventures, realestate.com.au, Oliver Hume, Lotus Living and Ivy Street.

Mrs Burns thanked the project partners for making the event possible.

“It’s pretty special to see businesses come together in such challenging times to not only build a home, but build life changing opportunities for kids in need,” Mrs Burns said.
