Kids across Western Australia are set to benefit from Variety – The Children’s Charity of WA’s “Double the Magic” appeal. With a couple of weeks still left to run, the fundraising goal of $100,000 was reached in just two weeks and has been extended to $150,000.
Variety WA Chief Executive Officer, Chris Chatterton said he was thrilled at people’s generosity: “We can’t thank the generous people of Perth enough. The Double the Magic Appeal is made possible by the contributions of local businesses and members of the community, with all donations doubled by a generous anonymous donor.
“This appeal will have twice the impact and bring twice the joy for children living with disability, chronic illness or experiencing disadvantage.
“Variety WA helps kids in some of the most remote communities in WA as well as across the metro area.
“It allows us to help families to purchase equipment such as modified cars, hoists, mobility prams and specialised wheelchairs, which makes a huge difference to children being able to play, learn and get around a bit more easily.” He said.
Here’s how people can get behind the cause; a small donation of:
- $50 becomes $100 for a sensory blanket.
- $100 becomes $200 to help provide a disability swing seat, offering safety and support for kids with disability.
- $200 becomes $400 to fund a C-Pen Reader to help a child with dyslexia to read.
- $400 becomes $800 to equip a child with a specialised communication device, giving them a voice they might not have otherwise had.
- $500 becomes $1,000 toward the cost of a specialised mobility pram.
