Chris joined the Board in December 2019. He is an experienced insurance litigation practitioner and is a partner of Sparke Helmore Lawyers, a national law firm servicing the needs of the insurance, government, financial services, technology, mining, construction and property sectors. Prior to joining Sparke Helmore Chris was a partner of a solely WA based insurance litigation in which he was exposed daily to operational decision making in the human resources, finance, information technology and client management space. Chris has developed strong leadership skills through supervising and mentoring legal practitioners and administration staff in his team and on a daily basis is required to use his negotiation and communication skills.
In the community Chris plays an active role in junior football as an assistant coach and is an avid cyclist. Through cycling Chris has been involved in the Hawaiian Ride For Youth since 2015 which has allowed him to meet and talk to young people in the community who face significant mental health challenges as well as difficult socioeconomic circumstances. This has provided Chris with a valuable insight into the impact fundraising can have on young, disadvantaged members of our community.
