VARIETY SUNSHINE PACKS

Variety Sunshine Packs help bring comfort to children as they enter out-of-home care or crisis accommodation, in the form of a backpack filled with everything a child needs to get through the first few days in their new living arrangement.

The program is a collaboration between Variety WA and grassroots volunteer organisation, Operation Sunshine WA, who founded the program seven years ago and run a number of initiatives to bring happiness to the lives of children and young people in out-of-home care and crisis accommodation across Western Australia.

Working together, we aim to produce enough Variety Sunshine Packs for every child who needs it.

Each backpack is assembled to meet a specific and important need. To create a sense of self-worth, preserve dignity, show they are valued and cared about, give comfort, and help alleviate the isolation and negative impact that displacement has on the children and young people.

Depending on age group, a typical Sunshine Pack will contain underwear, socks, top and pants, pyjamas, toothbrush/paste, hairbrush or comb, colouring book/pencils, journal/pen, soft toy and a reading book.

Packs are distributed via organisations that provide out-of-home care and crisis accommodation across Western Australia.

If you would like to learn more about these packs or place an order, please register your interest and we will be in touch.
