Mabel's Story

Variety – the Children’s Charity TAS has helped four year old Mabel who has recently moved to Tasmania with his family from a refugee camp in Sudan.

Mabel suffers from Transverse Myelitis. Transverse Myelitis is a neurological disorder caused by inflammation across both sides of one level, or segment, of the spinal cord. In Mabel’s case this has resulted in motor strength and control loss from his arms and legs.

Mabel is also at high risk of Scoliosis which causes the spine to bend sideways and rotate along its vertical axis. As a result, postural support is essential for this little chap.
