Every child deserves the chance to be the best they can be, to get the most out of life, regardless of their ability or background. For some families, having a child with special needs can be a life-long challenge.
Lachlan's Story
Teenager Lachlan Glover’s hopes of someday topping the charts and becoming a renowned jazz musician are now closer to coming true, thanks to the scholarships he has received from Variety – the Children’s Charity.
Since receiving support from Variety through their Scholarship program, Lachlan has notched up several high performances.
Erin's Story
Variety – the Children’s Charity NSW has helped 10 year old Erin of Smithfield reclaim her confidence and self-esteem, by providing a specialised wig for the young girl, who lives with alopecia.
Alopecia is an autoimmune disease that affects hair growth on the scalp and entire body which results in minor or complete hair loss with slim chances of regrowth, for which there is no cure.
Zachary's Story
Zachary is an energetic nine year old boy who loves Minecraft, Star Wars and the company of his family. Zachary’s family have been on emotional and long journey since he was diagnosed with autism and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).
Caitlin's Story
Caitlin is a 12 year old girl with a diagnosis of Optic Neuropathy. She is now able to read print and see visual images, even though she meets the criteria for legal blindness.
Rachael's story
For Rachael there is no easy path, the visits to doctors, hospitals, specialist and taking dozens of medication is ongoing.
Rachael Ralston has a condition called Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, a connective tissue disorder that results in hypermobility in all of her joints, having a systematic effect on her body.
