Chris commenced his association with Variety when he participated in the first Variety Bash in 1989 as medical support crew. Since then, he has completed 13 bashes, 6 Moto-runs and 6 four wheel drive adventures, the last two as co-chair of the event. He has been a corporate sponsor for more than 20 years and a regular attendee and supporter of Variety events.
Professionally, he is an academic cardiologist for Central Adelaide Local Health Network and the University of Adelaide. He has previously worked as head of medicine and was on the Governing Council for Central Adelaide for six years. He has also been a director for the Heart Foundation board in South Australia. His passion is rural and Indigenous cardiovascular health and he regularly flies to regional areas to provide front-line services.
In 2018, he was awarded a ‘From the Heart Award’ for his services to Variety SA and in 2019 was a finalist in the South Australian of the Year Award – local hero. He brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to his new role on the Variety board and looks forward to continuing and strengthening his involvement in Variety SA.
